Band Auxiliary Minutes
March 11, 2008
President Annette Sovastion opened the meeting at 7:30pm. The
treasurer’s report was read and the secretary reviewed last month’s minutes.
The PowerPoint shown at the Freshman Step Up was shown to begin our
meeting. Thank yous went out to all those who helped with the spaghetti dinner.
There is a need for a Summer Band Chair, Day Camp Chair, and Magazine
Chair. There will be a need for help handing out uniforms.
Committee Reports:
Discount/Avon/Zuls: Denise Palmer could use
an assistant for next year.
Chaperones: Penny Rumble stated that this
year will require reliable chaperones and would welcome help
Band Spectacular: Jenette Lewis will be
working with Tammy. This year the Spectacular is penciled in for Sept. 16th.
Patron Program: There was a $14,000 profit
last year.
Concession Stands: Lisa will need someone to
replace Annette for next year. They made $1,700 profit this year.
Elimination Dinner: Tracy and Renee will
need help. Last year they made $9,000 profit. The dinner is scheduled for
November 10th.
Lottery: Elaina Duley reported a profit of
$1,844 last year.
Stadium Seats: Pet and Robin reported a $20,
171 in profit.
Pizza Kits: Lisa reported a $1,300 profit
this past year.
Holiday Dance: There is a need for a chair
for next year. The date is set for December 18th.
Merchandise: Joel and Kim reported on the
door prizes at the Freshman Step Up.
Band Camp: Wanda reminded everyone that Band Campu will be
August 4-9. Fare have increased to $250 for the week due to increases from
Jackson’s Mill. At this point families with multiple children attending camp
will pay a straight fee, but the boosters will review later in the year to see
if there may be financial assistance for the Florida trip.
The handbook will be distributed with the students. Parents were told
to keep an eye out for them.
There were several ideas bounced around for potential fundraisers
including a year long lottery, Papa John’s night, discount coupon sales, a golf
tournament, and WalMart bake sales.
Mr. Reed Report:
March 13th two trailer loads will be taken to St. Francis
with loading from 3-4. Show Choir will practice from 4-6, Percussion from
5:30-7 and Tyco Drums from 7-8pm.
Images, Percussion and Jazz will perform March 14 and 15 at 7pm with
call at 6pm. There will be an afternoon concert for St. Francis kids too.
All State trip during Spring Break will be at Wilson Lodge at Olgeby.
Parents are to transport students before the concert at John Marshall.
The current schedule is up on the website. Highlights:
MnM clinics begin March 11th. There are
only 30 girls eligible. The line this year will be smaller with 17-18 chosen.
Percussion clinics will begin soon with try outs
May 19th. There will be one 8th grade only clinic and 3
all grade clinics
Band Banquet will be April 22nd in the
Mountainlair.
Band Festival: April 24-25th
in Bridgeport during the school day. There will be a need for 5-6 chaperones on
Thursday for Concert and Symphonic Bands and 2 on Friday with Wind Ensemble.
Spring Concert is scheduled for
April 29th
Strawberry Festival will be paid
for from some money from a levy to help aid transportation to school sponsored
events. All uniforms will be turned in when we return to MHS.
Graduation is May 31st.
Summer Band may include a couple
session with just 9th graders to orient them. Mr. Reed is
considering 3x week schedule with a morning and afternoon sessions.
