Band Auxiliary Minutes

October 2, 2007

 

The meeting was called to order by President Annette Sovastion. The treasurer’s report was distributed and reviewed. The minutes from the past meeting were posted on www.bandmhs.com and sent in emails.

 

Lottery Tickets – Elaina Duley reported that 655 tickets were sold. The lottery runs for the month of October and is currently closed to more sales. Payment will be sent from the treasurer to any winning number. The next sale is in March.

 

Concessions – Lisa Jenkins thanked all the parents for signing up and showing up to help. Workers are needed for Senior Night still so contact Lisa Jenkins if you can help. Also workers would be appreciated to help set up between 3-5pm before each game. If you are interested in running the popcorn concession next year, please let Lisa know.

 

Discount Cards – It was announced that they are sold out. Drawing for the students is scheduled for October 15th. Choir still has cards available for sale.

 

Stadium Seats – There are 6,000 permanent seats installed. We rented over 3,100 at the last game making $2,159.00.

 

Merchandise – please buy shirts J New items have been ordered. Sales were good at the Spectacular.

 

Spectacular – Tammy Dalton thanked everyone for another successful year. More kinks were worked out and everything ran smoothly!

 

Elimination Dinner – packets of 10 tickets were made available to sell. The dinner is Nov. 15th at the Knights of Columbus. Workers are needed and a sign up was passed. Items are being collected  until the end of October for the baskets to raffle. Contact Renee Moore or Tracy Culp

 

Spaghetti Dinner – Vicki Perry noted that workers are needed the night of the dinner to wrap silverware, run the drink counter, help serve etc…also reminder to bring 1 doz. Wrapped cupcakes!

 

Pizza Kits – Lisa Salati announced that orders are due Nov. 1st with a Nov. 15th delivery. Please write checks to MHS Band and put your child’s name in the memo line.

 

Mr. Reed’s Report:

 

Thursday Oct. 4th – 3-4pm band practice 5:30 report to top of High Street for Homecoming Parade

Wear red or blue band shirt, khaki shorts, real socks and dinkles   HAVE UNIFORM CLEAN FOR FRIDAY

Friday Oct. 5th – report to secret place at 6:15 *a reminder that half-time show is short and the full show will be performed at the end of the game.

 

Sat. Oct. 6th – Balloon Festival for Percussion and Pep Band only

                Meet at 3:15 at Mylan School and enter Festival together

 

Mon. Oct. 8th and Thur. Oct. 11 – band practice 3-4:30

 

Tues. Oct. 9th – Spaghetti Dinner – sophomores and seniors will work. MnM’s will also work.

 

Sat. Oct. 13th – Autumn Glory Festival buses will leave MHS at 10am! Pack a lunch to eat there.

 

Mon. Oct. 15th and Thurs. Oct. 18th – band practice 3-4:30

 

Friday Oct. 19th – 5:45 line up top of High Street for WVU Homecoming go straight to MHS for 7:30 football game.

 

Mon. Oct. 22nd and Thurs. Oct. 25th – band practice 3-4:30

 

Friday Oct. 26th Mohawk Bowl – students are to meet at MHS at 4pm to ride bus to Heritage Point to perform before the game. If you live in Suncrest area, meet at Heritage Point at 5:00pm for a short performance.  All will ride buses from Heritage Point to the stadium for the game.

IF YOU PLAN TO TAKE YOUR SON/DAUGHTER HOME FROM THE MOHAWK BOWL have them place their instrument in their case and place on trailer then meet you for pick up. You will not be able to meet the student at the trailer.

WVU will have 2 concession stands open on each side. We will provide a light meal for the bands during the game.

Mon. Oct. 29th and Nov. 5th – band practice 3-4:30

 

General Announcements:

 

SPIRIT OF AMERICA practice – Nov. 1 6-9pm

       concert – Nov. 2-3 at 7pm

 

There will be a uniform inspection before the Mohawk Bowl! Please have uniform cleaned, buttons fixed, shoes spotless, top of hat washed, new or freshly washed gloves and clean instruments.
