Band Auxiliary Minutes
October 21, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 7:35pm by President Annette Sovastion. Treasurer’s report was passed and reviewed. The minutes from last month’s meeting were not available.
Pizza Kits-a new form was distributed and is due Nov. 21st. Delivery will be at the Dec. 4th practice. It is important to pick the order up at that time since there is no place to refrigerate them. Please note that a new form is being used to turn it with totals only needed for each order. The profit from this sale will go 100% to the students band account.
Stadium Seats-Dec. 13th is the uninstall date: time to be announced. There may be a need on Friday the 12th to start unbolting seats too. Rental sales are down this year, but we are hopeful the colder weather will increase sales. Workers for each game must confirm they are coming.
Elimination Dinner: Nov. 10th-there are 199 tickets left to sell! Only 70 bought. There are currently 10 auction items including: MHS band gear, Coni and Franc clothing, and WVU vs. USF game tickets. A beautiful queen sized quilt has been made using old band uniform pieces and will be raffled. Tickets are $5.00 each.
Spaghetti Dinner-Deb thanked all who helped and requested more early help (4pm) and asked for someone to organize the take out area for the March 10th dinner
Lottery-there are still more tickets for sale. Lottery starts Dect. 1st and is good for one full year.
Mr. Reed’s Report
Spirit of America-Nov. 6th and 7th at the Met, 7pm. There will be a rehearsal Nov. 5th and help will be needed to set up the decorations and ticket collection area. This includes: Wind Ensemble, Orchestra and Choirs.
Veterns Day Parade-scheduled to start at 6:30pm Nov. 11th
Pittsburgh Parade-Sat. Nov. 29th . Meet at the school at 5:00am and return around 3:00pm. Practices will be held on Monday the 24th and Friday the 28th at noon. Students must attend both practices in order to march on Saturday.
Christmas Parade-Friday Dec. 5th at 6:30pm
Christmas Concert: Dec. 11th Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Percussion and Jazz Ensemble to perform at the auditorium at 7pm.
B.E.Taylor Concert: Dec. 13th with the Percussion to be confirmed still
Discussion was held about the current date for the Holiday Dance. School is in session the following day and concludes the next Monday. Tracy is checking with the Ramada Inn to see if the dance can be moved to Monday the 22nd.
There was a brief review of the Florida Trip:
March 31st through April 5th
Performing at the Magic Kingdom Parade on that Friday
Symphonic Band, Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will be adjudicated.
Students will have an opportunity to attend one of two Disney Institutes: music or dance
Payment installments: Nov. Dec. and Jan. of $200.00 with the final balance due prior to the trip. These funds are needed to pay Disney to secure our slot.
Mr. Reed is working hard to provide a price break for families sending more than one child.
Chaperone list is being worked on and should be finalized by Nov. 1st.
All payments to the band should be made to: MHS Band and either placed in Mr. Reed’s mailbox (please tell him if you put anything in there) or sent to PO Box 496 Morgantown 26501
