WIND ENSEMBLE
(Director Approval and Audition Required)
A select and limited instrumentation for the serious musician. Usually sections will be set up on a “one per part” basis that is conducive toward developing the confidence and independence of individual players. The most difficult types of music are attempted with the emphasis on an exposure to a wide range of styles. This class performs 3 to 4 concerts a year and will submit performances for national and statewide honors.
REQUIREMENTS: Members must participate in the Marching Band. Members are required to tryout for All-State Band and/or perform at the Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival at Fairmont State College. Members must have mastered all major scales up to (4

SYMPHONIC BAND
(Director Approval and Audition Required)
A select instrumentation with expanded sections and less emphasis on solo opportunities. The emphasis is on achieving a balanced instrumentation and well-rounded musical experiences. Literature will be adjusted to the instrumentation and the ability levels of members. This group will perform 2 to 3 concerts a year.
REQUIREMENTS: Members must participate in the Marching Band. Members are encouraged to tryout for honor groups. ALL STATE Band and perform in the Regional Solo Ensemble Festival at Fairmont State College. Members must have mastered all major scales up to (3< and 3=) major
scales, played in eighth notes at m.m. 120, play chromatic scale (playable range) and tonic arpeggio, sight-read music in above keys with 6/8, cut time 2/4, 3/4 etc., and perform a solo or etude to display technical skill (this could include band music).
CONCERT BAND
(Director Approval and Audition Required)
An open instrumentation that has emphasis on improving the musicianship of the ensemble and individual performer. Music selected will concentrate on the technical aspect of performance and will be tailored to the abilities of the members. This group will perform 1 to 2 concerts a year.
REQUIREMENTS: Members must participate in Marching Band. Members must have mastered all major scales up to (2< and 2=) major scales, played in quarter notes at m.m. 120, play chromatic scale two octaves 23 and tonic arpeggio, sight-read music in above keys with 6/8, cut time, 4/4
ADVANCED JAZZ ENSEMBLE
(Director Approval and Audition Required)
A select and limited instrumentation for serious musicians. Usually, sections will be set up on a “one per part” basis that is conducive toward developing the confidence and independence of individual players. This class performs 3 to 4 times a year and plays for numerous functions throughout the school year.
REQUIREMENTS: Members must participate in the Marching Band. Audition material will be determined by the Director.

INTRODUCTION TO JAZZ ENSEMBLE
(Director Approval and Audition Required)
Selected instrumentation for serious musicians. Usually, sections will be set up on a “two per part” basis with the focus on basic elements of Jazz. This class may or may not perform during the year.
REQUIREMENTS: Members must participate in the Marching Band. Audition material will be determined by the Director.

PERCUSSIONS ENSEMBLE CLASS
(Director Approval and Audition Required)
This class consists of percussionists that have successfully auditioned for and participates in the Marching Band Percussion Section (drum line). Members will learn ensemble techniques, percussion instrument techniques, and enhance technical skills. 1 to 2 performances will be given per year and members must participate in the marching band.
